Kenya: Three of the four suspects in the death of marathon world record holder arrested

Quénia: Detidos três dos quatro suspeitos da morte de recordista mundial de maratona

Kenyan police confirmed on Wednesday the arrest of three of the four suspects who visited the home of athlete Kelvin Kiptum four days before he died in a car accident.

The information was reported by the Star newspaper, which quotes police sources.

Samson Cheruiyot, Kelvin Kiptum's father, asked the authorities to investigate four people who had been to his son's house a few days before the fatal accident. Cheruiyot described the visit as suspicious, as the individuals refused to identify themselves.

The detainees will be questioned for the first time.

Kelvin Kiptum, the marathon world record holder, was 24 years old. In October, the Kenyan became the fastest athlete in the premier distance of athletics by winning the Chicago marathon in 2:00.35 hours, 34 seconds less than the previous record.
