On the morning of Sunday, April 2, the company AdRC - Águas da Região do Centro, restored the normal supply of drinking water to the city of Quelimane and the town of Nicoadala, in Zambezia province, after it had been interrupted due to several incidents.
First, a truck crashed into the pipeline and caused it to break down in the same place where it had been swept away by the rainwater caused by Cyclone Freddy.
After the fault resulting from the road accident had been repaired, upstream of the repaired break, the pipeline disconnected at one of the joints, making it necessary to stop pumping in order to carry out emergency corrective action.
In fact, pumping from the Nicoadala catchment to the Quelimane Distribution Center began on the night of Saturday, April 1, and it is expected that after the levels in the reservoirs rise, the supply of water to the population will gradually be resumed, even during the day on Sunday.
