The population of Nacala Porto caused riots that led to the death of four people against a backdrop of accusations of the spread of cholera in the Quissimajulo district of Nampula province.

The local population accuses local leaders of being responsible for programming the disease. In addition to vandalizing the health center, they also vandalized the police station and the homes of neighborhood officials and community leaders.

The riots were motivated by the death of three children from the same family from diarrhea and vomiting. The children's father and his neighbors concluded that the neighborhood secretary and community leaders had spread the disease to kill their fellow citizens.

Twenty of the community leaders' houses were destroyed, the health workers abandoned the hospital (some returned to Nacala City) and the PRM agents stampeded.

Due to the acts, voter registration was interrupted until normality was restored.
