Mozambique will play at full strength in today's match (15h00) against Somalia at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in the third round of Group "G" qualifying for the World Cup-2026.
The national coach of the Mambas, Chiquinho Conde, said at a press conference yesterday that he has all 25 players called up for today's match and that he will use every weapon he has to come away with the three points.
This is an unprecedented match between Mozambique and Somalia, so we have to be respectful of our opponents. In fact, Chiquinho Conde assumes that it will be a divided game, since neither team knows the other in practical terms.
"Somalia? They sold their defeat against Algeria in Algiers very dearly. We're theoretically the favorites for this game, but we'll have to show that on the pitch," said Chiquinho Conde in this afternoon's match preview.
Even with theoretical favoritism, Conde agrees that the two teams go into the game with a "50%-50% chance of winning the match, but stresses that "victory will be dictated by what happens on the pitch, and hopefully we can bring joy to our people," said Conde.
Mozambique go into this game with three points, the result of an away win against Botswana and a defeat against Algeria on home soil. Somalia have yet to score in two games.
