The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said that the country had managed to secure more than 500 million dollars for the protection of the Miombo forest.
The amount was raised on Monday night at a fundraising session in the United States of America. In fact, this was also one of the objectives that the Head of State was pursuing on his trip to that American country.
"And I don't think the number will stop there. And it's important that a management mechanism is created, given the fact that it's a regional project and not a provincial or national one," he said, quoted by "O País."
Regarding the Miombo forest, Nyusi says that, even near the end of his mandate, he is doing his part and that it will be up to the next President of the Republic to continue.
