The Labor Consultative Commission (CCT) has reached a consensus on the percentage for salary increases in the nine sectors of activity. The readjustment proposal will have to be evaluated by the Council of Ministers.
The consensus, writes Newswas reached on Friday in Maputo between the government, trade unions and employers during the II Session of the CCT.
"We call on employers to ensure that, after the percentages have been approved, social dialogue continues in the companies," said Moisés Siuta, the government spokesman. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Labor and Social Security Margarida Talapa.
The Workers' Organization of Mozambique Central Trade Union considers that the current salaries are not enough to get workers out of poverty. For the organization, wages are not even able to meet the needs of a basic sixth.
The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) believes that wage adjustments and the preservation of workers' rights are essential to guaranteeing the survival of companies.
At the meeting, the CCT complained that some pensioners from the National Social Security Institute were receiving pensions that did not correspond to their contributions.
