The Association of United and Solidarity Health Professionals of Mozambique (APSUSM) reaffirmed today in Nampula the continuity of the class strike and the suspension of minimum health services.
This position contradicts recent statements by the Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, according to which the strike is only taking place in the southern provinces of the country, with the central and northern areas of the country functioning normally.
"We have suspended minimum services throughout the country and the strike continues," said Lopes Remane.
The health workers are demanding a delay in the payment of overtime, a shortage of work equipment in the country's health units, shift allowances and definitive frameworks.
As a result of the demands, APSUSM says that professionals are being threatened with suspension of salaries and disciplinary proceedings if they continue to fail in their responsibilities.
