The Association of United and Solidarity Health Professionals of Mozambique (APSUSM) guarantees that it will ensure the care of the population during the doctors' strike, announced for tomorrow, Monday.
According to APSUSM spokesperson Rosana Zunguza, the measure comes in solidarity with Mozambicans and the activities will be carried out in strict collaboration with other entities designated by the Ministry of Health (MISAU), such as military doctors, partners and foreigners.
"For the duration of the strike by the medical profession, all health services at all levels will be provided by APSUSM members throughout the country," said the Association's spokeswoman.
Rosana Zunguza assured that the members of APSUSM are fully prepared, in coordination with the MISAU, to carry out any activity in the health sector that is entrusted to them, including management and direction, provided they have the necessary qualifications for this purpose.
The 21-day doctors' strike was called by the Mozambican Medical Association (AMM) and comes after another 21-day strike last December, which was suspended in the meantime and gave way to negotiations with the government.
The strike, according to the medical profession, is in protest against wage cuts with the application of the Single Wage Scale (TSU); the lack of overtime payments and the government's failure to fulfill commitments made and agreed in December, when the strike was suspended.
