The district election commission in the city of Maputo released yesterday, Sunday (13), the results of the intermediate tabulation of last Wednesday's (09) elections, which resulted in the victory of the Frelimo party and its presidential candidate, Daniel Chapo, with just over 50% of votes cast.
In an electoral process marked by a high number of null and blank votes, the trend that points to PODEMOS and its presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, as the leader of the opposition in the capital was confirmed.
According to a Terra Magazine, the minutes of the intermediate tabulation, approved by "consensus and acclamation" by the members of the Provincial Electoral Commission in the country's capital, indicate that for the legislative election, Frelimo won 57.78% of votes, followed by PODEMOS with 20.53%.
In third place was Renamo with 12.62% of votes cast, while MDM came fourth with 6.34%.
Of the more than 20 parties registered in Maputo city, eight candidates, namely PANAHOC, PAHUMO, PDD, PRDS, PASOMO, PDM, CDU, PANAMO/CRD, did not receive any votes.
Meanwhile, according to official figures, the country's capital had registered 676,757 voters, of whom only 426,389, corresponding to 63% went to vote.
Interesting data indicates that of the voters who went to the polls, the ballots for President of the Republic registered 17,234 invalid votes and a significant 28,916 blank votes.
For the election of deputies, there were 8,123 invalid votes and 8,858 blank votes.
