PRM will allocate one agent in each school in Maputo province

PRM vai alocar um agente em cada escola da província de Maputo

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) is evaluating the feasibility of allocating an agent to each school in Maputo province to combat deviant behavior and crime, the Head of the Public Relations Department and spokesperson for the Maputo Provincial Command announced today.

The plan comes as part of PRM's internal program "Safe Paths to Safe Schools", which aims to ensure a safer environment in educational establishments mostly attended by children and teenagers.

"In Maputo province, an effort is being made to place at least one officer in each school. This will be the person who communicates with parents and guardians at school meetings, as well as with the school board," said Juarce Martins.

The spokesman, who was speaking on Rádio Moçambique's Café da Manhã program, also explained that the officer will be responsible for monitoring all abnormal phenomena within the school perimeter.

"There are children who turn up drinking alcoholic drinks disguised as juices or soft drinks. People are selling drugs to children," he said.
