The Mozambique Republic Police (PRM) arrested six individuals on Tuesday in the district of Boane, Maputo province. They are five Mozambican citizens, including a father and three children, and a Tanzanian, accused of being drug traffickers.
The accused are aged between 17 and 41 and were found in possession of 360 silver of heroin and 40 rocks of cocaine.
The PRM activated its operational line after a consultation meeting with the population on Saturday, says the News quoting the corporation's spokeswoman, Carmínia Leite.
"Residents said there were smokehouses in the area, and work was done to identify and dismantle the places that were selling and consuming drugs," said Leite.
According to the PRM official, the group was made up of suppliers, resellers and consumers who operated in Boane and Matola.
In connection with the case, Leite revealed that the PRM arrested a woman for corruption after she tried to bribe the police with 12,000 meticais to release her husband.
