The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, assured today, Thursday (22), that by the end of the year, 20 more devices will be installed for the Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT) diagnostic service in various health units, which will bring the total number of machines from 23 to 43..
Speaking this morning in the capital of Gaza province, at the reopening ceremony of the Xai-Xai Provincial Hospital, following rehabilitation and upgrading work, Nyusi said that the facility will have CT scanning services, which will enable the diagnosis of muscle and bone diseases, tumors and other illnesses.
"The government will continue to build more hospitals, provide more equipment and qualified human resources to guarantee better health care for citizens," added the Mozambican statesman, quoted by the Mozambican daily News.
He went on to point out that the country currently has 1,854 health units, compared to 1,534 in 2015, which means that 320 new health units have been built and others have been rehabilitated and expanded to house more medical services.
The Xai-Xai Provincial Hospital currently has 628 health professionals, 23 of whom are specialist doctors.
