President of the Republic urges young people to show solidarity with victims of terrorism

Presidente da República insta juventude para ser solidária com as vítimas do terrorismo

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is urging young people to show more solidarity with the victims of the terrorism affecting the province of Cabo Delgado, in northern Mozambique.

Speaking yesterday, Monday (06), in Nampula, during the opening ceremony of the XV School Games, which are taking place under the slogan: School sports included, preserving biodiversity", Nyusi explained that the acts perpetrated by terrorists in that province are conditioning the development of school activity, and he therefore called on young people to take part in the fight against this evil.

"Terrorists burn and destroy schools and houses, separate families, children from their parents, who become nomads, without fixed shelters, which makes school activity difficult. We young people must show solidarity with our brothers and sisters, and we must not join in the enticements," said the Mozambican statesman.

On the occasion, Nyusi considered the school games to be an opportunity to promote national unity and peace in the country.

For this reason, the head of state challenged sports leaders to give the right guidance to athletes who stand out during the competition so that they can be part of the national teams and represent the country in national and foreign teams.
