President of the Republic says energy expansion accelerates economic growth

Presidente da República diz que a expansão de energia acelera crescimento da economia

The President of the Republic says that the electrification of special economic zones or administrative posts is helping to accelerate the economic growth of communities and boost tourism, thereby reducing operating costs.

Speaking yesterday, Thursday (01), during the inauguration of the photovoltaic plant at the Bazaruto administrative post, in the district of Inhassoro, in Inhambane, southern Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi said that with the operation of this infrastructure, a new era has begun in Bazaruto in which the problem that seemed persistent for the country is now history, with the consumption of electricity produced through solar energy, the cleanest and most environmentally friendly, being celebrated.

Quoted by the newspaper Notícias, the Mozambican statesman added at the time that the project would complement the electricity network installed with piped gas, which previously only served tourist resorts, focusing on a high-income market segment, and would now provide affordable energy to the population.

"The electrification of the park will contribute to boosting tourism in this island region and, consequently, to creating more jobs and increasing public revenue," said Nyusi, also highlighting the behavior of local communities in the conservation of marine, forest and wildlife ecosystems, a factor that contributes to attracting more tourists to this island region.

The plant has a capacity of 200 kWp and 900 kWh of storage. It will produce 365 MWh a year and has a 20-kilometer medium-voltage network and ten low-voltage networks, an investment of 131 million meticais from the state budget.
