Presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane announced today the new post-election protest measures that will be in force for more than a month from Wednesday until January 15 "when he takes office as President of Mozambique elected by the people".
In a live broadcast on a social network, Mondlane said that the next phase of the demonstrations, the "Turbo V8 Phase", will be marked by more prolonged basic measures that include: the suspension of toll charges throughout the country; allowing mukheristas free movement (without customs duties) at the Ressano Garcia border until 12 noon; and the use of state institutions' staff vehicles to transport the general population to their destinations.
The 4×4 phase of the post-election demonstrations ends on Wednesday and, despite the start of a new period, there should be relative calm until the announcement of the start of the Turbo V8 Phase on Monday, December 16.
