Prices rose by 0.72% in November, bringing year-on-year inflation to 2.84%, driven by an increase in the cost of unsettled food and beverages, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
"The divisions of food and non-alcoholic beverages and restaurants, hotels, cafés and similar were the ones that saw the biggest increase in prices, varying by around 7.36% and 4.10%, respectively," writes INE.
According to INE, the city of Quelimane recorded the highest price increase with around 4.34%, followed by the city of Xai-Xai, with 3.64%, and the city of Chimoio, with 3.53%.
Although the downward trend in inflation has changed slightly in the last three months, the rise is still far from double digits.
This is the third consecutive increase in the CPI, after four months of deflation between May and August. During this period, the monthly variations were negative: -0.38% in May, -0.21% in June, -0.05% in July and -0.11% in August.
