This Wednesday in Maputo, the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, received the ambassador of the Republic of Congo, Constant Serge Bounda, who gave him an official message from the Congolese President, Denis Sassou Nguesso.
The communication focuses on deepening bilateral relations between the two countries, with an emphasis on strategic sectors such as hydrocarbons, forest management and economic diplomacy.
Speaking to the press at the end of the hearing, Ambassador Bounda highlighted the fraternal and strategic nature of the visit, underlining the content and purpose of the presidential message.
"We had the honor of being received by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Francisco Chapo. We came here bearing a message from his counterpart and brother, the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso," he said.
The diplomat stressed the historical ties and political proximity between Mozambique and Congo, describing the two countries as inseparable partners.
"As you know, Mozambique and Congo are sister countries, and you can't talk about Mozambique without talking about Congo and vice versa. The two states have had frequent exchanges of information," he said.
According to Bounda, the Congolese President's message underlines the intention to intensify bilateral cooperation in areas considered strategic.
"And the message we brought today is precisely to strengthen these relations that exist between our two countries, and this strengthening involves the areas of hydrocarbons and forest management," he explained.
The ambassador added that the meeting with President Chapo included a broad analysis of new opportunities for collaboration in the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mozambique and Congo, which will be marked soon.
"And also as you know, the Republic of Mozambique and the Republic of Congo are about to celebrate 50 years of relations. Together with the President of the Republic, we have taken a look at what can be done to strengthen relations between our two countries," he said.
For the Congolese representative, the economic potential of the two countries is a solid basis for new forms of cooperation.
"The Republic of Congo and the Republic of Mozambique are two countries that have great potential, and we are also betting on economic diplomacy," he said.
Among the sectors of shared interest, the diplomat highlighted the role of the Special Economic Zones as a development model that attracts particular attention from his country. "As you know, Mozambique works in the area of Special Economic Zones, which is also of interest to the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso," he said.
Bounda said that there were plans to open a Mozambican diplomatic mission in Congo, an initiative which he said would help to strengthen the institutional presence and political-diplomatic exchange between the two countries.
For the Congolese ambassador, this new diplomatic impetus is based on a common vision of sustainable cooperation, with mutual benefits and based on principles of African solidarity.
"So these are the horizons, among others, that will be worked on as part of strengthening relations between the two countries," he concluded.
