Heads of state and government from various countries sent congratulatory messages on the 48th anniversary of national independence, highlighting the strengthening of cooperative relations as a priority, according to a statement issued by the Mozambican Presidency.
"I am sure that through joint efforts we will ensure further consolidation of constructive Russian-Mozambican cooperation in various areas," said Russian President Vladimir Putin, quoted in the press release.
For her part, India's head of state, Draupadi Murnu, highlighted the "warm and cordial relations" with Mozambique, saying that the two countries have developed a "rich tradition of bilateral and multilateral cooperation", which she hopes will be strengthened in the coming years.
"India attaches great importance to deepening and consolidating relations with Mozambique," said Murmu.
George Vella, Malta's head of state, wants to increase cooperation and solidarity with Mozambique in order to contribute to the development and prosperity of the African continent.
The Republic of Malta is keen to strengthen relations with the Republic of Mozambique.
Switzerland highlighted the "high quality" of relations with Mozambique, expressing its desire to continue the "excellent cooperation" with the country during its terms as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi also received congratulations from his counterparts from the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, and the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who also wished the Mozambican people and government prosperity.
"I wish your country a lot of progress and prosperity and that our bilateral relations, in which we pride ourselves, witness more progress and development," said the Palestinian statesman.
On June 25, Mozambique celebrated the 48th anniversary of the proclamation of national independence in 1975 by then President Samora Machel, after ten years of struggle against Portuguese colonialism.
