PR wants reliable and safe transportation in the country

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, urged the new Minister of Transport and Communications to create solutions for quality and quantity road mobility, as well as develop a mass transport system in the country.

Nyusi was speaking today at the swearing-in ceremony of Mateus Magala as Minister of Transport and Communications.

"One of the constraints of the Transport and Communications sector is the difficulty for Mozambicans to make themselves present in various places because they don't have access to road, rail, air, and sea means," the President stressed during his speech.

Nyusi said that reliable and safe transportation is essential for children to get to school early, young people to fulfill their obligations and get to know the country, while adults will arrive on time at workplaces with the necessary comfort.

He also said that with secure means, merchants can get their goods, merchandise and services to the points of sale anywhere in the country.

He also spoke about the need to make the transport and communication companies of the public sector profitable. "It is necessary to proceed with the restructuring of these companies through a plan based on realistic assumptions and objectives whose evolution can be progressive according to the profitability of the company," said the head of state.
