The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, received the Director for Africa of the Environment Secretariat, Kina Murphy, in his office today. He discussed issues related to cooperation between Mozambique and that organization in the field of biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on partnership opportunities to support Mozambique in strengthening its policies for adapting to climate change, protecting biodiversity and promoting the sustainable economic development of local communities.
At the end of the hearing, Kina Murphy expressed his satisfaction at the meeting with the Mozambican Head of State, underlining the Environment Secretariat's commitment to working with Mozambique to make the country an example in reconciling environmental conservation and economic prosperity.
“We have just met with His Excellency, President Chapo, to discuss ways to support Mozambique in becoming a champion of biodiversity and sustainable economic development for communities.
We talked about how to reconcile the needs of climate adaptation, protecting biodiversity and creating economic resilience for the Mozambican people.
The key is to find ways to promote prosperity through conservation,” said Kina Murphy at the end of the meeting.
The meeting is part of the Mozambican government's efforts to strengthen international cooperation in the environmental field and to promote integrated policies that combine economic growth, sustainability and the well-being of the population.
