This Monday, in the city of Quelimane, Zambezia, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is chairing the 12th National Meeting of Municipal Authorities, according to a presidential statement.

According to the press release, the meeting aims to discuss strategic lines for achieving the objectives of decentralization, strengthening local government, municipal finance, service provision, resilience to climate change, environmental protection and conservation, as well as the enhancement and restoration of ecosystems located in municipal territories.

During the meeting, the debates will be aligned with the challenges of decentralization and the provision of instruments for spatial planning, with fiscal policies in favour of greater autonomy for local authorities in the country.

The XII National Meeting of Municipal Authorities is being held under the slogan: "Urbanization, a Priority for Sustainable Municipal Development".
