The head of state, Filipe Nyusi, congratulated the "Mambas" on their two-goal draw against Egypt in the opening game of group B of the African Nations Championship taking place in Ivory Coast.
Speaking to Mozambique Television last night, minutes after the match, the Head of State said that "it was clear that a draw is not our result, but we have to accept it.
Once again, I would like to thank the people for their support and affection for the Mambasincluding people who were in the stadium. It's not yet time to sing victory. We will continue to support the national team, because it shows confidence.
They conceded an early goal, but they weren't intimidated. If it hadn't been for VARwe would have won the game," said the President of the Republic.
"Congratulations to Mambas. We're not just anyone. We will continue to work, supporting these young people, even in difficult times," he said, calling for no stones to be thrown at the players.
"We'll keep thinking the same way for the next game. We can't get carried away with the draw with Egypt. We have to keep playing our game. Our aim is to win, otherwise we shouldn't lose.
Let's congratulate the coaching staff, the boys, including the Mozambican Football Federation, because these results come from the work that everyone has done."
