The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, yesterday (26) laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Port of Angoche, in Nampula.
The Port of Angoche is being financed by the Arab Bank for African Development (BADEA), to the tune of 33 million dollars.
It is a public facility designed for docking boats and storing fish products, and should be built in two years.
Cited by "Notícias", the Head of State pointed out at the launch that the Angoche Fishing Port is an important infrastructure for fishing and has a socio-economic impact on the town and the district.
The infrastructure will have the capacity to store 593 tons of fish, and berth 40 artisanal, 15 industrial and 10 semi-industrial vessels. It will have a quay 380 meters long and 30 meters wide.
Seven cold rooms with a capacity of 350 tons of fish, two quick-freezing cold rooms for 250 tons and a processing chamber will be installed inside.
It will also include an ice processing plant with a capacity of 60 tons and space for 80 20-foot and 40 80-foot containers.
During the construction phase, 400 workers will be employed, including nationals and foreigners.
