The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) prevented a march in Maputo on Saturday (19) to protest against the murders and persecution of political opponents and citizens who think differently from the regime of the day in the country.
The cancellation caused outrage among citizens, because according to them, it was a peaceful march. According to social activist Evandro Sigaval, one of the co-organizers, the march was to start from the Eduardo Mondlane statue to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and with clear objectives.
"It is the responsibility of the Attorney General's Office, as well as investigating, to inform the Mozambican people about these atrocities that are taking place. Who are the people behind situations of this nature?" asks Evandro Sigaval.
For Clemente Carlos, also a member of the march's organizers, the police's actions left no doubt: "This is repression, this is the dictatorship that is here! Only Frelimo can march! So, young people, the struggle continues but now let's go home please!"
In a publication by RFIDespite this, the organizers have promised to return to the streets to repudiate the persecution and murder of political opponents and all those who think differently from the regime in Mozambique.
