In Nacala-Porto, in Nampula province, the police shot six citizens, five in the following places: Endrissa market, Nacala General Hospital, in the Paraíso 2 area, in Lili2, commonly known as Feira Nova, in the Mathapue neighborhood.
Two of the people shot are in the Nacala-Porto District Hospital.
In response, the demonstrators threw stones, burned tires and set up barricades on the road.
The director of Nacala General Hospital refused to give information on the number of gunshot victims admitted to the hospital.
The PRM district commander in Nacala refused to give any information, claiming that they were still working.
As well as shooting citizens, the police fired several tear gas shells into homes in the areas mentioned above.
The tension began on the morning of October 31 when the police prevented members and supporters of the PODEMOS party from marching, demanding the letter authorizing them to demonstrate. The police threatened to shoot everyone on the march.
The clash led the police to fire tear gas into houses in the Mathapue neighborhood to disperse the demonstrators.
The riots that began in the late morning continued throughout the night. (CIP Elections)
