A young man was shot today in Praça dos Combatentes, Maputo city, by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) during an intervention that involved several shots. The incident happened this afternoon, hours after Daniel Chapo's swearing-in ceremony as President of the Republic.
According to a Success TVThe young man was immediately taken to hospital after the incident. In addition, the shots fired by the PRM hit an electrical cable, causing the power supply to be interrupted.
According to residents quoted by the same publication, PRM agents arrived at the scene and started shooting, which sparked outrage among the population. In protest, the residents blocked the road and expressed their dissatisfaction, saying they no longer want the party currently in power.
