PODEMOS distances itself from the sale of its free access badges and calls for denunciations

PODEMOS distancia-se da venda dos seus crachás para o acesso livre e pede denúncias

The Povo Optimista para o Desenvolvimento de Moçambique (PODEMOS) party, which supports Venâncio Mondlane's presidential candidacy, says it is distancing itself from the sale of its articles in order to guarantee citizens free access to transit.

Badges, caps and posters with images of Venâncio Mondlane and the PODEMOS party have been circulating in the markets and on the streets, being presented by some as a kind of "marching guide" to guarantee free transit. In addition to being on sale, these items are also indicated as a condition for obtaining this privilege.

In a statement released yesterday, Wednesday (04), the party said that "such acts are completely dissociated from the cause defended by our candidate, as well as by PODEMOS".

The party is also appealing to the population, stressing the importance of staying away from such criminal practices. "We urge all members, sympathizers and the population in general not to condone these acts and to denounce those responsible, so that our noble cause is not associated with criminal conduct," the document reads.
