Venâncio Mondlane, a member of the Assembly of the Republic (AR) from the Renamo parliamentary caucus, could face disciplinary proceedings from another parliamentary caucus.
According to the newspaper "Dossier e Factos", the MP may be questioned by the Standing Committee and the Parliamentary Ethics Committee, but the reasons are not really clear.
In parliament, Venâncio Mondlane exposed a complaint by the National Criminal Investigation Service (Sernic) of Zambézia, which indicates that an MP and member of the Standing Committee is a "drug lord" and runs a gang of traffickers who exchanged fire with the police.
The newspaper says that the pressure on the opposition MP is aimed at silencing accusations of organized crime networks in the country that the ruling party is profiting from, "especially at election time".
In 2018, on the verge of an electoral process, Venâncio Mondlane was prosecuted and taken to the Attorney General's Office for questioning. At the time, the MP mobilized a demonstration in Bairro 25 de Junho "A" and Bagamoyo, in Maputo, for the recovery of a historic soccer pitch sold "criminally" to a private company.
