Contingency plan for this rainy season with a deficit of 8 billion meticais

Through the Council of Ministers, the government has approved the Contingency Plan for the 2025-2026 rainy season. According to Inocêncio Impissa, government spokesperson, who was speaking today after an ordinary session, the plan responds to a scenario of strong winds, urban flooding, drought, floods and cyclones.

Impissa said that the plan is budgeted at just over 14 billion meticais, with a deficit of 8 billion, which is expected to be reduced through other sources of funding.

The spokesperson also explained that the plan's policy has been changed to invest in recovery rather than disasters. "The policy has now changed to invest in recovery rather than disasters. In disasters, what we're going to do is manage the risk, but what we want to invest more in is restoring people and the conditions so that people can be more resistant and resilient to risk issues," he concluded.

At the same session, the Executive approved the resolution ratifying the Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement in criminal matters between the Republic of Mozambique and the Republic of Kenya. The government also approved the resolution ratifying the Extradition Agreement between the Republic of Mozambique and the Russian Federation.
