Nearly 1500 people in the city of Maputo may be assisted in this rainy season through the Contingency Plan of the Maputo City Council, which is being implemented.
In addition to material support, the plan consists of capacity building for local risk management committees at the municipal district level, as well as surveying possible sites for accommodating the population in the event of neighborhood flooding.
The information was given to Radio Mozambique by the councilor for Health and Social Action at the Maputo City Council.
Alice de Abreu mentioned that, on the other hand, work is underway with the communities to eliminate deposits of river water, as a result of the last rains.
