The book "Pivoting In Heels" was recently launched in Maputo. It tells the story of 50 women whose journey reflects the daily lives of women in management and leadership positions in their organizations, highlighting the socio-cultural challenges inherent in professional and personal life. 

The work is sponsored by Standard Bank, as part of its Women's Month celebrations (April), and is part of the international Pivoting In Heels project, which promotes gender equality through innovation and technology.

For the chairman of Standard Bank's Board of Directors, Esselina Macome, the stories portrayed in the book reflect the reality of some of the country's women, which will inspire society to take action to change towards progress.

"The experiences of these women will inspire us, they will lead us to reflect on what we want to be in this Mozambique of ours and, above all, how we want to contribute to its development.

May the book serve as a reminder to each of us that there is potential in every woman on this planet. There is always something to share or pass on to the world," said Esselina Macome.

Through this book, we hope to give the necessary visibility to impactful achievements by women, highlighting success stories, accomplishments and lessons that can inspire other women to pursue their goals.

"It has been a privilege to document these stories and amplify their voices. It's a way of celebrating their achievements and we hope that this book will inspire other women to become an active part of the fight for the fair and sustainable inclusion of women in the most varied sectors of our economy," said Ilundi Matale, Pivoting In Heels' representative in Mozambique.

For her part, Graça Machel, the initiative's patron, expressed her delight at the launch of the work which, in her opinion, constitutes a common space for all women, which is amplified by the fact that the figures portrayed are from different sectors of activity.
