PGR notifies Venâncio Mondlane for insulting PR and CNE in a song

PGR notifica Venâncio Mondlane por impropérios contra o PR e a CNE em uma música

The Attorney General's Office (PGE) has notified the candidate for President of the Republic, Venâncio Mondlane, not to use a song that insults the current President of the Republic (PR) and the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

The independent candidate, supported by the Podemos party, uses a campaign song that uses the pejorative expression "suca" against state entities, political parties and their candidates.

In fact, the PGR document of September 10 summons Venâncio Mondlane to appear before the institution, but the candidate is on an election campaign in Tete province.

The PGR said that it had learned from two videos circulating on social media that Venâncio Mondlane was insulting the PR and the CNE.

"The pronouncements made by the candidate Venâncio António Bila Mondlane not only offend the dignity of the President of the Republic and the CNE institution, but also that of its members, thus violating the provisions of article 58 of the Constitution of the Republic, which states that: every citizen has the right to a good name, reputation and defense of his public image and the reserve of his private life," it reads.

The deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Amabélia Chuquela, said she believed there had been a situation of this kind and that it deserved to be dealt with.

On September 3, Venâncio Mondlane's running mate had already been summoned by the CNE, where he warned him not to continue using expressions that could be understood as insulting state bodies, particularly the CNE.
