Crude Oil Headed for a Third Straight Week of Gains

Oil started the year on a high and is already heading for a third consecutive week of gains, at a time when some OPEC+ members are facing some constraints, such as Kazakhstan or Libya.

Today, West Texas Intermediate is up 0.39% to $79.77. North Sea Brent crude, meanwhile, is advancing 0.38%, with the barrel already comfortably above the $80 threshold. At this point, a barrel of Brent crude stands at $82.3.

In weekly accounts, WTI is appreciating over 6%, while Brent crude is around 5.79%.

"That momentum has accelerated this week, despite the OPEC+ production increase, and now we have the disruptions in Kazakhstan and Libya adding to this bullish sentiment," indicates this analyst Jeffrey Halley, senior market analyst at Oanda Asia, in the daily newsletter.
