The company Inertes de Pemba (PBT) has proposed to the Provincial Executive Council (CEP) the construction of an industrial park in the Metula district, in the city of Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado, budgeted at more than 50 million dollars, whose project contemplates the expansion of the current inert terminal, from 115 to 265 meters.
The plan calls for the installation of a concrete production plant, a complex of warehouses for various fins, and camps with a capacity to accommodate more than 300 people, among other infrastructure.
"The idea is to deploy another flutuant inert terminal 150 meters long, 35 meters wide and with a depth of 11 meters," PBT General Manager Piergiorgio Evangelista explained to the.
It is intended with the investment to expand the onshore inert wharf flexibilize the loading operations of the material, to meet the needs of the companies participating in the hydrocarbon exploration project in the Rovuma basin.
The construction of the industrial park and expansion of the aggregate terminal will be in two phases, with the creation of 1500 direct jobs, in addition to the construction of social infrastructures, namely a health unit and a school, in the scope of social and corporate responsibility.
PBT is a private company based in the city of Pemba, created in 2019 by national and Italian businessmen, operating in the transportation, logistics and storage business.
