The Beluluane National Park (BIP) has changed its name to MozParks Holding - Parques Industriais e Zonas Francas, SA.
The decision to rename had its greatest impetus during a working visit by the Minister of Industry and Commerce. Carlos Mesquita challenged BIP managers to create a chain of industrial parks under the PRONAI program in order to improve industrial development.
To replicate the MozParks model throughout the country it was decided to create a holding company as a way to standardize the management of the industrial parks, said Onório Boane, General Director of MozParks.
"We will have the Beluluane Industrial Park not as our identity, but simply as a park. Our vision is for the industrial parks in each province to be named after the place where they are located. This is a matter linked to the valorization of local content," he explained.
In this sense, the first intervention will be in the Topuíto Industrial Park, in the Larde (Moma) district of Nampula. This park will serve Kenmare's objectives as a heavy sands explorer, just as BIP served Mozal's interests.
The second Industrial Park of MozParks will be in the district of Montepuez, Cabo Delgado, where it is intended to install an agro-park, with a strong focus on promoting market access.
Based on the experience with Mozal, which, despite diversification, maintained its share of companies based in the park, the plan is to create a range of opportunities to benefit the economy as a whole.
As part of the expansion of the industrial parks, MozParks plans to develop a total of 1,000 hectares in each province.
