The Minister of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, Lídia Cardoso, said today that Mozambique produced more than 200,000 tons of fish in the first half of this year.
She revealed the information at the first session of the National Fisheries Administration Commission in Maputo, whose aim was to find solutions to various problems in the fisheries sector, especially illegal fishing.
The lack of up-to-date data on the real damage caused by illegal fishing was one of the major constraints pointed out during the session, which also included government officials and partners.
In addition to government officials, the National Fisheries Administration Commission includes the Fisheries and Aquaculture Technical Commissions, which will follow up on the solutions reached in the discussions.
