Botswana's Letsile Tebogo won the men's 200m with a time of 19s46, setting a new African record on Thursday (08) at the Stade de France for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Americans Kenneth Bednarek and Noah Lyles finished in the previous positions, with marks of 19s62 and 19s70 respectively. Lyles, who won the 100-meter dash, tested positive for covid-19 before the race.
The race was attended for the first time by two athletes from Zimbabwe. Tapiwanashe Makarawu and Makanakaishe Charamba. The athletes finished sixth and eighth.
