The German organization Bread for the World (PPM) is funding 250,000 euros for the 'I Pray and I Vote' project, an initiative of the Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM) that aims to contribute to the transparency of the 2023 municipal and 2024 general elections.
The project is expected to directly benefit 20,288 people, of whom 12,178 are women and 8,110 men, and indirectly one million citizens, of whom 600,000 are women and 400,000 men, in the cities of Maputo, Beira and Nampula, selected for their size and capacity to concentrate people.
The data was shared yesterday in Maputo City by the director of the 'Eu Oro e Voto' Program, Agostão Zita, at the launch of the project.
Zita acknowledged the degree of difficulty in achieving this figure, but said there were different ways of doing it.
"We are going to use the media, social networks, cell phones and all possible and available services to achieve the goal of having peaceful and transparent elections in Mozambique, preventing conflicts before, during and after [the elections]," she said.
