"Superior orders": Jaime Neto neither accepts nor refuses accusations of abuse of power

“Ordens superiores”: Jaime Neto não aceita e nem recusa acusações sobre abuso de poder

The Secretary of State in Nampula province, Jaime Neto, is accused of being the "mysterious" entity who, abusing his functions, usurped power and ordered the illegal detention of a customs agent in the provincial capital for allegedly disobeying his superior.

When the case hit the press, SE was in one of the province's districts carrying out the Frelimo party's election campaign agendas, and it was not possible to obtain his position on the matter, which is already causing the Provincial Prosecutor's Office to run out of ink.

However, this Wednesday (05), in the district of Moma, he was approached by a journalist about having ordered the arrest of the Mozambican customs agent, and he was sparse and inquisitive in his words.

"Are you asking me? Am I a policeman or am I a court?" he asked the journalist and went on his way.

Meanwhile, in the city of Nampula, Jaime Neto took part in an event where journalists picked up on the theme and answered questions about the Frelimo party, although the occasion was not about electoral or party matters.

"We are campaigning. The campaign is going very well and we believe that our candidate will win. Thank you very much," he said.

However, the Public Prosecutor's Office has taken action to investigate the case and hold those involved accountable.
