Eduardo Mondlane's family say it is not their place to comment on the statue that represents him.
Quoted by STV, the daughter of the first President of Frelimo and architect of National Unity, Nyeleti Mondlane, said that she is waiting for the opinion of the evaluation commission referred to by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
"It's not up to the family to comment on that," he said, noting that the statue had caused disagreement in society over its quality and aesthetic reception.
"Let's wait. It's up to the people," he said.
