Nyusi may dismiss government this week

Nyusi pode exonerar Governo ainda esta semana

The outgoing president of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, could dismiss his entire government this week, considering that next Monday (13) the new deputies and the President of the Assembly of the Republic for the 10th Legislature could take office.

The Constitution of the Republic stipulates that the President of the National Assembly must be sworn in by the president in office, and to date this will be Filipe Nyusi. It won't be until the 15th that the country's new President can take office.

On the 13th, 250 deputies will be sworn in, some of them from the last legislature. And, for the first time, parliament will have four caucuses, with 171 seats for Frelimo, 43 for Podemos, 28 for Renamo and eight for MDM.

The Frelimo party saw its bench reduced from 184 deputies in the legislature about to end to 171 seats. Renamo dropped from 60 seats to 28, and MDM gained two seats, from six to eight.
