The President of the Republic (PR), Filipe Nyusi, has called on the National Social Security Institute (INSS) to moderate the language used in its education and awareness programs in order to attract more taxpayers to the system.
Speaking today in the town of Maxixe, Inhambane province, during the inauguration of an INSS building, Nyusi said that there are people who don't even know what the INSS is, so there is a need for a more down-to-earth level of language.
"I always listen to the radio, in the mornings, to INSS programs, but officials should get out of their offices and speak the language of the land. We don't all understand the vocabulary on the radio. Sit there, on the ground in the market, and explain what the INSS is, because sometimes nobody understands," urged the PR.
According to Filipe Nyusi, the institution must find other ways to attract small taxpayers, one of them being contact campaigns.
"Explain what it is, what the advantages are. Just as politicians run campaigns, run a campaign that benefits the citizen, that affects them immediately," he instructed.
On the other hand, Nyusi recognized Inhambane's tourism capacity, and urged the exploitation of this potential to broaden the taxpayer base.
"Given the impact of this crucial sector on the employability of young people, particularly women, Inhambane is one of the best examples in terms of territorial coverage of social security services," he said.
He also called for a continuous effort to map out other sectors to bring workers from all walks of life into the system.
