New minimum wages: There is consensus, but values continue to fall short of desirable

Even with the consensus reached between the government and the working class, the figures still fall short of what is desirable, the class revealed yesterday in Maputo at the II Ordinary Plenary Session of the CCT.

"The consensus was the best possible result, but it doesn't solve the problems of workers' ability to respond to market demand," said the representative of the Confederation of Free Independent Trade Unions of Mozambique, quoted by Notícias.

The agreements, by sector of activity, were reached at the Labor Consultative Commission (CCT), a body that brings together the private sector and trade union movements, with the government as facilitator

Following the consensus reached, the proposal should be analyzed and approved in the next few days by the Council of Ministers.
