"New government may have opposition elements" - CIP

“Novo Governo poderá ter elementos da oposição” – CIP

The new government to be appointed after January 15 could include some members of the opposition and figures apparently linked to civil society. The information comes from the Center for Public Integrity (CIP), which cites sources linked to the Frelimo party and some opposition parties.

In its publication this Sunday (12), CIP reveals that the three opposition parties represented in the next parliament, namely PODEMOS, Renamo and MDM, "have been asked to nominate a member to be appointed to some position within the new government".

"What the sources don't know is which posts the opposition members will be appointed to," says the publication.

However, if confirmed, this is a palliative solution found by Frelimo to reduce the contestation over the political exclusion to which the opposition is subjected.
