North: Delay in the disbursement of funds jeopardizes the implementation of development projects

Norte: Atraso no desembolso de fundos compromete implementação de projectos de desenvolvimento

The Northern Mozambique Integrated Development Agency (ADIN) is experiencing poor development in the organization and coordination of projects in its portfolio estimated at more than 2 billion dollars.

According to the chairman of ADIN's Board of Directors, Jacinto Loureiro, who was speaking to journalists yesterday (27) at the 59th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM-2024) which has been taking place in the municipality of Marracuene since Monday, the problem is due to issues linked to the disbursement of amounts by partners, bureaucratic problems, violent extremism, and others, promising to go after the damage in order to speed things up.

"We have several projects that we as ADIN are promoting in order to organize and speed up. We are making every effort to organize the major organizations in order to improve coordination so that, in an integrated way, we can see better development in the North," he said.

Additionally, Loureiro, quoted by AIM, He also pointed out that one of the most important problems is the fact that the entire northern zone wants to see benefits from the projects coordinated by ADIN, which is not possible, stressing that it is necessary to continue with the available projects so that the population can see the benefits.

"We have projects worth almost 2 billion dollars that are currently underway, but with a relatively poor performance, of 31% on average, which is why ADIN has an extremely large role to play in speeding up this development and making sure that these projects accelerate so that we can quickly see greater benefits for the population," he stressed.
