"The Tunduru garden is not for picnics," says Eneas Comiche

“No jardim Tunduru não é para fazer piquenique”, diz Eneas Comiche

The President of the Maputo City Council, Eneas Comiche, said today that the prohibition measures in the Tunduru garden aim to attract tourists.

The prohibitive measures imposed by the city council include not being able to eat or drink (except water), stepping on the grass, sleeping on the benches, engaging in physical activity, among others.

"A botanical garden is not a place to go and have a picnic, run around and so on. The Tunduru garden should make us here proud and that our visitors know how to value it," he said.

On the occasion, the mayor even recalled family moments when he would go to the garden to enjoy the diversity of tree and bird species, so that it is this "urbanity" that he wants to maintain.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of a municipal health center valued at more than 260 million meticais, in the downtown area.

At the time, he said he hoped the unit would improve communication between residents and health services.

In the first phase, according to the Councillor for Health and Social Action, Alice de Abreu, the center will operate from 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., and by the end of the first half of the year it will be operating without interruption.
