Niassa: Malaria has killed 82 people from January to July this year

Niassa province, in the north of the country, continues to be the worst hit by malaria, with high rates of illness, despite the efforts that have been made to contain the disease.

According to health data, shared during the fourteenth ordinary session of the Council of State Representation Services, from January to July this year more than 505,000 cases of malaria have been registered, with 82 obtained.

These figures represent an increase of 38% compared to the same period last year, when 344,000 cases and 107 deaths were recorded.

The authorities point to the communities' poor adherence to disease prevention rules as the main cause.

On the occasion, José Manuel, the event's spokesperson, called for a change in the population's awareness of the fight against malaria.
