The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) announced the arrest of two men of Malawian nationality who allegedly tried to traffic a nine-year-old child in Niassa province.

According to the spokesman for SERNIC in Niassa, Moisés Matangue, they are two men, aged 43 and 47, who were intercepted at the Mandimba crossing point and did not have their identification documents or those of the child.

"When questioned by the police, the two Malawians claimed that the child was their grandson and that they wanted to take him to the Republic of Malawi, where he was going to live," said the SERNIC spokesman.
