Yesterday, in its first extraordinary session, the Niassa Executive approved the budget for the five-year plan for decentralized provincial governance.

For the five years (until 2029) of the provincial administration of the re-elected governor, Elina J. Massengele, the amount of 15.9 billion meticais has been approved. The amount will be financed by internal and external resources and donations.

A portion of the amount is to be disbursed each year, and will be applied to 18 results-oriented programs aimed at boosting the economy and improving the population's quality of life.

The priority areas include health, agriculture, tourism, housing, sanitation and youth employment.

One of the planned targets is average annual growth of around 6% in global production, and 25% average annual increase in own revenues.
