The Executive Director of the Center for Public Integrity (CIP), Edson Cortês, defends the involvement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in all decision-making processes that affect society.
"Public policies should not be defined without involving the Ministry of Youth. Every governance decision has implications for young people and they need to feel represented," he said.
He was speaking as part of the Ministry's first visit to the CIP, and took the opportunity to highlight the need to promote development in the country's localities in order to curb the increasing migration of young people to the "metropolises".
"Young people's minds are armed by the lack of opportunities. It is urgent to create opportunities that restore confidence and a sense of belonging to Mozambican youth," he said, recalling the 2024 electoral demonstrations.
The Minister, Caifadine Manasse, agreed on the importance of decentralizing services and opportunities, recognizing that concentrating everything in Maputo limits the balanced development of the country.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment, and in particular that of the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, to promoting integrity and good governance.
